Yuba County – A teen driver and passenger were killed after losing control over the vehicle in an early Thursday morning solo crash, the California Highway Patrol said.

The 18-year-old driver, Sonia Solley, of Wheatland, appeared to have miscalculated a curve at around 5 a.m. near Olivehurst which caused their vehicle to crash into a power pole along Plumas Arboga Road.

Reports indicate that after Solley failed to negotiate the curve, the vehicle swerved, skidded, and went off the road before flipping over and hitting the pole.

Solley was thrown out of the vehicle while the passenger, Jacob Scott O'Neal, 17, of Plumas Lake was found near the vehicle. Both teens died on the scene.

Authorities reported that neither teen was wearing seatbelt when the accident happened.
