January 5, 2010
Santa Ana – A suspected drunken driver was charged with one felony count of gross vehicular manslaughter and another felony count of fleeing an accident scene after rear-ending another vehicle and causing the death of an 18-year-old woman this past weekend.
According to the Coroner’s Office, Corbin White died at Western Medical Center Monday afternoon.
Robert Charles Serrano, 36, who also has a previous DUI conviction in 2005, will be appearing for an arraignment hearing today at the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana.
According to Santa Ana Police, Serrano, who was driving a 2006 BMW Sedan, rear ended the Toyota Scion that White was riding on the intersection of Main Street and Macarthur Boulevard.
The crash caused the Scion to careen onto the intersection and collide with a Chevrolet Malibu that was making a left turn to Main from the westbound lane of MacArthur while the BMW spun and struck a Toyota Corolla.
After the collision, Serrano ran off the scene but was later arrested.
Aside from White, there were no other casualties or injuries reported.
