February 23, 2010

West Covina – The California Highway Patrol is looking for the driver who fled two hit and run accidents, one resulting to the death of his passenger, on the 10 Freeway last night.

According to the CHP, the unidentified driver left the car after he lost control and slammed into a sound wall on the west 10 Freeway at about 10:30 pm. The impact killed one of his passengers, Gustavo Cesena, 25.

The driver and another passenger left the accident scene before the CHP arrived.

Investigations by the CHP showed that the fatal car crash happened after the driver tried to flee from another car accident.

The driver struck another vehicle while entering the 10 Freeway from the Grand Avenue on-ramp. The driver fled from the scene and the second driver chased to get a plate number. Both cars weaved in and out of traffic until the first driver lost control and slammed into the sound wall.

The car spun and struck the wall a second time before the chasing vehicle hit it from behind. The identities of the driver and his companion are still unknown.
