Natomas Man Killed in Car Crash by Underage Driver
October 13, 2008
Sacramento, CA – Aman Khanna moved to the US ten years ago from India to look for a better life. With a wife and three daughters to support, he shuttled back and forth every day between two jobs.
Khanna was driving to his night job as a security guard in a hospital about 10PM when he was hit by a car running a red light on Cottage Way at Fulton Avenue. The driver fled the scene after hitting the car. California Highway Patrol officials later arrested the driver in his home in home shortly after the incident. The driver is a 16-year-old youth who was driving without license. He was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
"He would work from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., and then he would sleep some and go to work at noon and come home at 6 p.m.," Khanna’s daughter said. "He never got a full night's sleep."
Khana’s family said that his supervisor had called them that night saying that he didn’t make it to work that night. Khanna didn’t carry a cell phone so they couldn’t check up on him. The following morning, his daughter woke up to find the message the county coroner left for them at 2AM.
