Large Tree Kills Driver after Dropping on Vehicle
March 21, 2011
Napa – A man was killed Saturday night after a large tree fell on his car while traveling on South Kelly Road, the California Highway Patrol said.
The accident occurred around 10:30 pm on the northbound lane of the road. Alex Nadar Nagal, 56, of Vallejo was driving his 1997 Chevy Suburban near Jameson Canyon Road.
Due to the impact of the fallen tree, the vehicle stopped instantly, Napa CHP spokesman Officer Jaret Paulson said. Nagal died at the scene.
According to Lily Nagal Adkins, the victim’s eldest child, he was on his way to work when the accident happened, and that he always take South Kelly Road instead of Route 29 “to avoid traffic.”
Paulson added that the tree broke because of stormy weather. South Kelly Road was shut down for five hours after the accident to give way for extrication, investigation, and clean-up.
