CAR ACCIDENT: Infant Dies, Mother Injured After Downtown LA Crash

Los Angeles- An infant died and his mother has suffered minor injuries after a car accident in downtown LA on Thursday at 9:20 p.m. According to reports, the car driver was trying to parallel park near Fourth and Spring Streets when he struck the curb and hit the mother and her child. The accident occurred during a monthly Art Walk event in the Historic Core.

The motorist mistakenly stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brake as he tried to park. The child's stroller ended up pinned between the car and a parking meter. The infant suffered life-threatening injuries while the mother sustained minor injuries, reports said.

Paramedics arrived and rushed the two-month-old boy to a local hospital. He was put on life support, but was pronounced dead at 2:25 a.m.

The car driver was not hurt in the crash and passed drug and alcohol testing. Authorities are still investigating the details on the cause of accident.
