San Diego – Authorities are now investigating whether the faulty brakes of an older vehicle has caused injuries to at least five people, including two minors, in an accident in Ridgeview Tuesday night, reports said.

The accident occurred in the intersection of Fairmount and Home Avenues at around 8:45 pm when a 2006 Altima entered the intersection with a green light and it was hit by a 1995 Lincoln Mark VIII running a red light.

A 7-year-old child in the Altima sustained serious leg injury while another child and an adult had minor injuries. Two adults in the Lincoln also had minor injuries.

Police ruled out alcohol as a factor but authorities are investigating whether the accident was caused by the Lincoln’s faulty brakes.
