Elderly Couple Killed in Car Accident at Rowland Heights

Rowland Heights – An elderly couple were standing in the street, taking photographs of the full moon when they were hit and killed by a car, according to California Highway Patrol officers.

The couple, both in their 70’s were walking along the eastbound lane of Pathfinder Road when they were struck by a Ford Explorer. The vehicle that struck the couple was being driven by Gabriel Mayesiro, a 26-year-old local of Rowland Heights. Officials found the camera at the scene of the incident.

Investigators are still in the process of determining whether the couple had failed to yield to the driver, or the driver did not see them. The driver stayed at the scene of the collision, and did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
