CAR ACCIDENT: Driver Struck by Own Car on 57 Freeway

March 9, 2011

Orange – A woman who was involved in a car crash Tuesday afternoon on 57 Freeway got ejected and struck by her own car, according to authorities.

The accident occurred at about 1:44 pm on the southbound lane of the freeway, north of Interstate 5. A witness claimed that the woman cut across several lanes and hit a truck in the carpool lane, California Highway Patrol Officer Jennifer Hink said. She was then ejected out and hit by her own vehicle.

Hink added that the woman’s passenger said that she did not have her seat belt on. She suffered major injuries and was taken to UCI Medical Center, but is now in stable condition.

An issued SigAlert shut down four lanes of the freeway, including the carpool lane. It was canceled at about 2:41 pm.
