November 26, 2008

Bonsall - A 26-year old man from West Covina died Wednesday when the car he was driving collided with a pick-up truck on state Route 76, reports said.

Reports gathered by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) indicate that at 6:20 P.M., the Chevrolet Cavalier, drifted twice to the right shoulder while heading west.

The second time, according to witnesses, the driver over corrected and swerved sharply to the eastbound lane of South Mission where a pick up was heading. The Chevrolet Silverado pickup heading east then broadsided the Cavalier.

The impact crushed the car’s right side which caused the death of the driver, said a CHP official.

The driver of the pick-up, a 26-year-old resident of Carlsbad, was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. However, his 24-year-old passenger, also from Carlsbad, was unhurt.
