VEHICLE CHAIN ACCIDENT: Chain Bus Crash Injures Two Inmates, Six Officers

Los Angeles – A chain crash involving four buses carrying inmates and military personnel has injured at least eight people near Washington Boulevard shortly before noon Thursday, authorities said.

According to reports, three buses containing military personnel and another carrying 25 inmates for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department was travelling along 5 Freeway in Commerce when a vehicle suddenly slowed down in front of the Sheriff's Department bus.

The driver slammed on the brakes causing a chain crash that involved the three buses that were following closely in the fast lane.

The freeway was closed as authorities investigate and clear debris from the crash.
