Los Angeles, CA - A six-vehicle crash occurred on the Pomona Freeway in East Los Angeles caused by two vehicles that apparently have been racing, causing the westbound lane to be shut down for over an hour last Monday.

The accident happened at 3:47 a.m. west of the Long Beach Freeway near Indiana Street when one driver apparently lost control that caused other vehicles to collide, Los Angeles County Fire Supervising Dispatcher Bryan Webb said.

According to Webb, at least one vehicle caught fire and numerous bystanders reported pulling some people from the flames.

California Highway Patrol Officer David Porter said that one person was brought to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center in serious condition and another was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Westbound freeway traffic was closed near the scene of the accident from around 4:30 to 6 a.m., Porter added.
