Car injures 16-year-old skateboarder

Westminster, CA - A 16-year-old skateboarder was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle last Sunday night.
The accident occurred around 7:00 p.m. at the intersection of Sowell and Golden West streets in a residential neighborhood near Westminster Mall.
According to police's initial reports, the boy was riding his skateboard across Golden West and was hit by a southbound car, but recent reports state that the boy was walking his board across the street and was not wearing any protective gear.
The driver of the car called 911 and the boy was immediately taken to the hospital with severe head injuries.
According to Lt. Derek Marsh, there was no apparent driver's negligence but the accident is still under investigation.
