CAR ACCIDENT: Car Combusts and Catches Fire on Freeway 22

Santa Ana – Authorities are investigating an incident on westbound 22 where a car combusted and caught fire this afternoon.

According to the CHP, the car accident occurred at about 1:36 pm when Charles Laning and his wife, who were riding the said vehicle, tried to pull over at the side of the freeway and ended up on the right shoulder of the Glassell Street on-ramp when they felt that the engine did not sound right.

As soon as they got out, the car burst into flames.

Firefighters from Santa Ana and Garden Grove responded to the incident.

The car accident blocked the No.4 lane and the Grand on-ramp going to the westbound 22.

The No. 4 lane was reopened at about 2:22 pm.

Investigators are looking at possible auto defects as the cause of the sudden combustion.
