4 Dead in 91 Freeway Car Accident

Corona – At least four young men were killed after the car they were riding slammed into a palm tree on the eastbound lane of Riverside (91) Freeway in Corona.

Authorities believed the car was traveling more than 100 miles per hour when it lost control and collided with the tree.

The California Highway Patrol said the driver and the three passengers, although wearing seatbelts, died at the scene. The young men may have been returning from an Anaheim nightclub at the time of the crash, police added. The sedan was torn into pieces

Police are currently investigating whether alcohol or drugs played a part in the accident.

No other vehicles were involved.

Several lanes of the eastbound 91 were closed 6 to traffic while the car crash was investigated and until the wreckage was cleared.
