2 Killed, 2 Others Critically Injured in Fatal Car Crash

Fullerton, OC - Two people died and another two were critically injured after a car crash in 57 freeway south of Imperial Highway, early morning Sunday.

In a statement, the Fullerton Fire Operations Chief said that the driver, still unidentified, lost control of the vehicle while traveling southbound on the 57 freeway, around 4:40 a.m.

The car, identified as a vintage Chevy Nova, then went over an embankment and hit a tree, then burst into flames and ignited a grove of a tree.

Firefighters found two dead occupants in the scene.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the Chevy was badly twisted and shredded and the driver and another passenger were said to have ejected or fled the scene, but were later arrested.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Both of them were taken to UCI Medical Center and were pronounced in critical condition.

The CHP is still investigating the accident and further details of the crash and the names of the victims were unavailable.
